What white, pink, and brown noise actually are
All three are broadband sound, meaning they contain many frequencies at once rather than a single tone. What separates them is how energy is distributed across that range.
White noise has roughly equal energy at every frequency. It sounds bright and flat, close to static or a fan at full speed. Pink noise loses energy gradually as frequency rises, which gives it a warmer, more natural character, often compared to steady rainfall. Brown noise loses energy much faster at higher frequencies, so nearly all its weight sits in the low end. It sounds deep and rolling, closer to distant thunder or a fast river than a hiss.
